What day and time should I schedule our session?
I can schedule sessions everyday, but am less available Monday through Friday. My favorite time to shoot is within 2 hours of sunrise and sunset. Wait, did you say sunrise? I'm always after the best light and these are the times that nature provides it. This being said, I can accommodate any time that works best for you.
How far in advance should I schedule a session?
It's never too early to get on the calendar. I'm usually booked 2-3 months in advance. Spring and fall are particularly popular times of year.
How do I schedule a newborn session?
Once you know you'd like to work with me, we reserve time on the calendar. After the baby is born, we pick the exact day and time of the session. My preference is to photograph newborns between 2-4 weeks, but I'm flexible. Newborn sessions typically last 2-3 hours with lots of breaks. Most newborn sessions are held during the week.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
Rescheduling is no problem. We'll find a new session date that works for both of us at no charge. I do ask for a $250 deposit to hold your date. If you'd like to cancel and prefer not to reschedule, I unfortunately cannot return your deposit. Mini sessions cannot be rescheduled.
Can I hire you to shoot my pet, wedding, headshot, party, etc?
Let's talk about your project and if I think it's right for both of us, game on! If not, I'll recommend some great folks to help you out.
What can I expect during the session?
My goal is to create a relaxed and fun experience while capturing genuine emotion. I find it best to let kids be kids, and will spend time interacting and playing with them to draw this out. The more you treat the session as playtime vs serious business, the better. I shoot on location at your home, in your neighborhood, in a park or fun urban location. I only use natural light.
What should we wear?
Whatever makes everyone feel comfortable! Colors and layers are fun. If possible, I would avoid white, black, bold patterns and items with logos, characters or writing. I'd also avoid all wearing the same color. Wardrobe changes are also doable if you'd like variety.
Should we bring anything with us?
A blanket to sit on can be handy - especially with babies. A special toy that inspires play (balls, bubbles, balloons) can also bring out some great moments with kids. I also recommend having some non messy snacks and a drink on hand. Unless getting messy is the idea - ice cream anyone?!
How do I prepare for a newborn session, do I need anything?
You don't need to do a thing. I'll send you some info ahead of time with a couple things that are helpful to have on hand, but you don't need to clean up, time feedings, or any of that. I know you're not getting much sleep, we'll keep it stress free.
What if it rains?
If the weather is not cooperative, we'll either move the shoot indoors or reschedule. I'll contact you the day before our session if weather looks bad.
AFTER THE SESSION
How soon can I see the photos?
Images will be uploaded to your private online gallery within 3 weeks of the session. Print delivery will vary depending on items purchased.
How many photos will I see and get to keep?
I select and edit the best images from our session, a minimum of 50 images. You get all these as high resolution jpeg files. For mini sessions, you get a minimum of 25 images.
What if I'm unhappy with the photos?
I want you to love your photos. If you are not happy, I will work with you to make it right.
Will the images be in color or black & white?
I usually provide a mix, and will edit the image depending on what I think best suits the photo. If you have a preference, please let me know.
Do you offer prints?
Yep! You can order prints right from your personal online gallery using my pro lab. Contact me for more information.
