From the aesthetics to the personalities, one of the things I love about this job is that every session is a study of something new. I never know what's really going to happen, even with families I photograph again and again. People are fascinating, unpredictable, and what make me want to do this for as long as I can.

I don't photograph a lot of older kids. There's even a middle schooler in this mix! This was a Sunday morning, soon after wake up - bathrobes, breakfast, you get the idea. I spent a couple hours with this family. I could have spent all day. I'll say it, I kind of wish I could photograph older kids more often. Especially amongst the treasure troves of personality that are their bedrooms. Here's part 1.

I'm embarking on some experiments this year. Trying some new things. One is a series I'm calling Mornings With...I'm spending three mornings with three Brooklyn families, documenting their time together during the lazy weekend hours after they wake up. I'm enjoying this project immensely. Here is the first family I worked with. I'm breaking up this post into two parts.
