We were at the grandparents' house in Queens. Mom and Dad and their little boy were visiting from out of town. Lucky me, these thoughtful folks decided to hire a photographer to capture some everyday, special moments. I ate homemade eggs with challah. I was shown old photos of a handsome man in uniform. They made me feel like family the minute I walked in. I could have stayed with them all day.
The Little Brother
Hugs on demand. Can you imagine having a sister that so willingly complies? And with such exuberance that at 5 months you could only be thinking, "One day, I'm going to squeeze you so hard your barrette's going to fall off." This is a little brother we're talking about, after all.
Not your everyday family reunion
It was the first time they met. Six families who had kids with the help of the same donor, came to NYC to bring these half brothers and sisters together. I overheard the parents talk about same noses and smiles. The expressions, the gestures, the way they moved. It was super cool. The best part was watching these former strangers take to each other like this outing had been one of many. Kids are pretty awesome that way.
A Special Peek
It's always so fun watching parents interact with their kids. Coaxing smiles and giggles, soothing furrowed brows. I'm truly lucky to be able to witness such tender moments. Looking forward to spending more time with this little monkey and his folks this fall.
It's all about the sweater vest
It was our third meeting, and at four months, my friend here is already showing us up with his cool threads.
