He likes cars. She likes climbing. They both like chocolate milk. And Mom and Dad, seems they also like cameras (I smell a birthday gift!). I could spend all day with these two.

Teased the cat, threw the ball, chewed the broccoli, spit it out, drank from a sippy, made a mess, took some steps, had a bath, read a book, collapsed into bed, right on time.

This past weekend I spent the afternoon chasing a band of rascals around the Little Gym in Brooklyn, all in honor of this little lady's birthday. You may recognize her as one of the costumed kids from a Halloween Party featured here a few months ago. When not fighting crime, this superhero enjoys bubbles, balance beams, and finishing off the day with a race car themed cake. She's kind of my idol.

We spent this lad's first birthday rollicking in the somewhat soggy outdoors in what should have been winter. Quite adept at devouring a cup cake and with a new penchant for biting his lower lip, the birthday boy was nothing but charming. Here's to many years of exciting unpredictability, of more than just the weather.

Our session lasted all of 15 minutes before the icy winds sent us back inside for some tasty homemade treats. Hats off (literally) to this brave family for simulating a pleasant fall day at the edge of winter. Of course toddlers are impervious to weather and if it was up to this one, we would have circled the neighborhood a few more times before calling it quits. Thanks to mom and dad, we'll be picking up round two in the spring. And did I mention I got tasty homemade treats?
