I love sessions like these. We start off with a rough plan and inevitably veer off course, meeting canine neighbors, playing with toothbrushes, finding unexpected moments that perfectly encapsulate what life is like right now.
Greenpoint, I'm a fan | brooklyn family photographer
After living in NYC for 10 years I'm somewhat embarrassed to say that I've never been to this part of the city. One of the benefits I've come to appreciate about taking photos of New York families is that I find myself in neighborhoods I might never have seen otherwise. This is a cool little section of Greenpoint. Transmitter Park has piers that take you out over the river for some expansive Manhattan views. The blocks surrounding are filled with street art and textural, industrial scapes. And there's a great bookstore with good finds for little ones. I might want to move here.

In honor of mother's day, lots of mom going on here. Thank you to the wonderful families who make my days of mini sessions so much fun. Thank you especially to the kids for surprising me every time.

Staple street - popular location for photoshoots - used to be the alley between an old ship worker's hospital and its corresponding ambulance depot. The bridge that bestrides the two buildings was the passage way to deliver patients from the ambulance to the hospital. This little fact told to me while I was scouting, by a nice guy walking his dog who has lived in the neighborhood since the 60s.
