Step, step - smile big! Fall. Giggle. Toddlers are the ultimate mentors for taking risks, celebrating accomplishments, and picking ourselves back up when we fail. Had such a lovely morning with these parents and courageous little guy.

Just shy of three weeks | brooklyn newborn photographer
What's the best age for a newborn session? I get that question a lot and it's a tough one to answer. So much changes in those early days. But if I was hard pressed, I'd probably say around 3 weeks. At this age, babies are still tiny but they tend to be more awake and make eye contact. Some of my favorite shots included babies gazing up at their parents or if I'm lucky - me. But every kiddo is different and unpredictable - and this is what I really love about this work. Each experience is beautifully unique.

I'm still not 100% clear on the dividing lines between Williamsburg and Greenpoint, but one thing I'm certain of, is how much I love to photograph in that neck of the woods. So yes, let's go outside with the baby! Let's go find some street scenes, let's remember the first block, the front stoop, the restaurant down the street. And then let's go inside and cuddle.

Cutting teeth soothed by finger chomps, wobbly walking legs getting steadier, sneaky smiles that soon are in full view, and hugs, hugs, hugs from all sides.
