The turning leaves are late to arrive here in Brooklyn. Comparing with sessions I did at this time last year you’d think November would still be several weeks away. But aside from the obvious signals nature provides, there’s a mood that comes with fall that I love. A coziness, a warmth that is reinforced by sweaters and scarves but is rooted in family hugs and laughter.
The former industrial zone we all love | gowanus family photographer
We held this session In the morning haze of sun, along the beautiful banks of the Gowanus. Some day this whole area will be turned inside out, redeveloped, cleaned up. Not sure if I'll like it better that way.

Porches, yards, stairs, spacious rooms…what does an ex-Brooklyn family do with all this square footage?

When the leaves are this green and lush (thanks buckets of rain!) the browns of the buildings really pop. It's hot out for sure, but July in the city is awfully pretty.
